STILL RESCUING

Yes, I'm still helping to rescue chows, and even if I didn't want to, they would find me.  Like Bob says, rescue is like the Mafia, once you get in, you never get out.  This dog is on the next road over from mine, so I had to go look for him.

Caro-Mi is a family style restaurant that has been in existence since 1945.  I actually have never been because the menu is simple, mostly meat with basic veggies, so not the kind of thing I eat, but it is a popular place and a beautiful one with this setting.

The name was a combination of the states the owners were from, North Carolina and Miami, Florida.
An old covered bridge leads to the restaurant from the parking area over the river, which was really rushing yesterday.
The chow had been seen here in the morning, but I could not find him.  I went up the road to where the old house that I love is, the place I have gotten many plants from, and there was a man at a church cutting a bouquet of flowers. I stopped and asked if he had seen the chow, he thought it was a bear.  That's my worry, the bears are making their way out of hibernation, but the locals don't mess with the bears, we live with them, so he should be okay in that respect. He pointed me in the direction he was seen, but no luck.
Even if I found him, chances are he would run, he's in survival mode, and having trapped a few chows myself, I know how hard it is to get one, and they never come up to you.  I just wanted to see where he was and alert the people in houses dotting the hillside to call me if they cornered him in some way.
At least he picked a beautiful spot to hang out, plenty of water, places to get out of the rain, this porch for instance, and a restaurant that if he hangs around enough and they feed him, he may be easier to catch.  They have my number and did put up a sign for the customers at my request.
I don't mind coming over to this road and driving around, it's one of my favorites, all the trees and bushes are in bloom, even after a hard freeze last week that fried a lot of my blooms.  This road is down low with the mountains in the background which protects their flowers.
It will be 10 years in May that I have lived here, and I am still in love with this place and feel so blessed to be here!
