Sullivan's Island, Day 3 The Homes

Love the plants on the island, big, lush and green!

And the live oaks!!!
The houses ranged from smaller vintage original homes, to huge new mega mansions.  I looked at realtor.com to see what these houses were selling for, 5 to 8 million!! Guess I'll never own a little beach cottage, at least not on Sullivan's Island.

I have to say, out of all the houses, I really loved this one, took a LOT of photos, but won't bore you with them.  The way this was situated on the land was really nice.

I REALLY liked this one, too!

Two beautiful churches on the island. This one is now a residence.

This Catholic church was open and I got to go inside.
From the looks of the dome, this hawk perches up here quite often.
The entry was bright blue from the beautiful stained glass windows.

Leave it to me, I always find the historic cemetery.

Before driving home, I headed north to another island called Isle of Palms, you can see why.  I was not impressed with this island.  So many islands to visit, so little time!

Sullivan's Island, Day 2 The Beach

Before heading to the beach, a morning stroll on the marsh boardwalks.

This bird has some great lashes!
Got my morning espresso and off to the beach, the boardwalk leading there.
This whole island is covered in old live oaks.

The beaches were quiet, there was a cool breeze, the reason I didn't realize how burned I was getting. The tops of my feet were cooked!
October seems to be the perfect month to hit the beach.
A military lighthouse, has to be one of the ugliest I have ever seen.

Fort Moultrie is at the far end of the island, has the old cannons and prison cells. I walked that the first evening I got to the island.

                                                Calm waters.

                                                Love the pelicans.

This guy surprised me while I was reading.
A perfect read for the beach, Cottages by the Sea, the houses of Carmel.
