Rainy Week Cupboards

A week of rain led to me going through cupboards and closets to organize linens and other items I'm either going to sell or give away. I started to put together a group of ecru and white pieces for a special person as a surprise.

Just one of the huge closets full of afghans.

The huge cupboard in my living room that holds my special dishes.  I can't believe I eliminated half of what was in there, and I still have so much!  I don't have sit-down dinners any longer, the entertaining I do is much more casual, so there wasn't a need for so many place settings.
Only keeping the things I really love and use.
The kitchen cupboard holds old bowls and little items that are just for looking at. More things I love and from special people.

A little bisque cupie with a rabbit that my mom gave me so many decades ago.  Pieces of transferware that I find from time to time and vintage salt and peppers.
A set of ceramic bird glasses I found when I was in my 20s when Bob and I used to go to Nashville's Heart of Country show every Valentine's Day.
Dollhouse tea set from the dollhouse I wish I still had!
That white egg is from a screech owl nest in my owl box that didn't hatch.

A rare find, hand painted porcelain sock darner.
This morning the fog started to leave, the sun came out with blue sky and it was 72 degrees. Needless to say I was outside prepping for spring, cleaning up and watching the deer in my pasture.

The Scotch Broom enjoyed the warmth today, too, and decided to start blooming!

Holiday Leftovers

My Buche de Noel was chocolate this year and turned out great!

Not only did I make the sponge cake chocolate, I frosted it, which I never do, only powdered sugar, but made a mocha frosting to make it really rich, and it was!!

    Cute sock xmas gifts.

Got a couple of these candles from Stone of CA, they are wonderful and really last a long time.  Loved all my gifts, especially the electric pruning shears to do bamboo.

A house that I didn't get to post on my birthday post since it was so long.  We parked right by this beautiful place, I immediately fell in love. If only I could see the inside! I would live in downtown Greenville if this could be my home!

New Year's Eve was a stay-at-home night in front of a fire with a good cocktail, Mexican food and the second season of "Divorce". Brought out the special bear glasses for this one.
For future reference, the cocktail was an Eddie Palmer, sweet tea, lime juice and tequila.  I found this wonderful tequila in another recipe and wanted to give it a try instead of the plain.  It was Chipotle, smokey and spicy.  The whole bottle is now gone!
Timber always wants what we're eating.

Sadly, the trees are down and decorations packed. I hate to see the sparkly lights and decorations go, so I kept some on the mantle for dreary winter days.

I would say now to relax, but you know me, back to my yard work and plants!
