Back to Reno?

I never thought I would tire of my charcoal portraits, but they don't fit the house, and I started collecting bird prints, and needed a place to hang them.

They are in my bathroom surrounding the tub.

I took them down, spackled the holes, repainted the wall and hung my prints.

At first it seemed a bit too busy, I wished I had four of the size of the mallards, but I didn't, so arranged the ones I had to look its best.

This is a beautiful print from the Biltmore House, wish I had found more, especially since it was only $4.  The whole wall cost a total of $9!

This print of the boy on the beach I will be keeping since it was an anniversary present.

All in all I like the new look.

Today we finally got the tree that fell cut and split, I spent hours hauling logs to the wood shed and limbs to the pasture in  90 degree heat, took a shower, now I'm beat.

Nice stash of oak for the fireplace.

I have been looking for a rain chain since I moved here.  A piece of the copper gutter is missing and the water splashes over the brick walkway and I needed a fix, but rain chains can be very expensive if you want verdigris copper.

Went to a Frog & Swan estate sale on the very last day, seems everything I picked up was $5, including this verdigris bell and chain, which is acting as a rain chain and looks very nice.

Found these, whatever they are, also $5, and I am going to use these as hose guides.

So I decided to take a week or so break from rescue and concentrate on painting and other projects around the house.  My chow friend from Virginia came into town, so the day was spent going to shops and lunch at an old fashioned Southern soda shop in Forest City.

She brought gifts for the dogs, chews made in Nepal out of  Yak and Goat's milk.  Only Geisha turned her nose up at them.

Princess is guarding hers.

Roman is enjoying his.

My favorite coleus this year.

I was never a fan of cannas, but I love this one in the pot, and it attracts the hummers.  Next year will have a pot at the other end of the stone path so that it balances out the front of the house.  Dug it up at the old stone house that I love.

These, whatever they are, also dug up at the old stone house, are now in bloom, but are sprouting everywhere and I need to transplant them all in the fall to an area where they can be free to multiply.

If anyone knows what these are, please let me know!

FINALLY!! The tomatoes are starting to come in.

Bob found a place not far from here where an Italian family from NY had opened a deli and make their homemade mozzarella, one of the things we really missed from Atlanta.

I could eat this for dinner every night, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and my homemade balsamic reduction.

Things are blooming in the garden, but with the horrible heat this summer I have just let it go do its thing 'cause I'm not going to be out there in the pasture in the sun and heat watering and weeding.  A lot of things are covered in morning glory vines, but I don't care!

The pumpkins are getting big.  They got a late start, and I was worried I wouldn't have any by fall, but I think we'll have a crop.

I couldn't believe my eyes, I had 3 pileated woodpeckers all at my suet, but by time I got my camera one had left.

I did catch the male feeding the female!

Some nice photos of the crows.

So my friend from Virginia came and went, then I got a call from a friend in Florida whose friend had died and she needed to get his dog, a promise she made to him before he died.  We had a nice dinner together and she spent the night at the boathouse. She said it was the best sleep she has had in a long time.  We have guests coming again Friday.  So much for reno this week, but there's always next week!!

Etsy Customers

I have a lot of repeat afghan customers on Etsy and they love to show me where my afghans end up.

Obviously, not an afghan, but the two pitchers she bought looked very nice where she placed them.

This one is in the car below, he wanted an afghan to put on the middle seat.

And then there's "the coat"!

Love finding these Mid Century Mod latch hook rugs.  A find at $5 and on auction on Ebay right now and up to $50!!  I have lots of watchers and three days to go, let's see what happens!

Just throwing this in, I now have a PAIR coming to the suet each day!  The female's head feathers are lighter than the male's.  They are fun to watch.
