Coldest Christmas Eve Ever!

Christmas Eve morning every window in the house looked like this.  Fourteen degrees outside, only 43 inside!! We refused to turn on the propane backup, the dogs like it cold like this anyway, and that's all that matters!  lol

We put on a fire, and it has been going non-stop Christmas Eve through Christmas.  Should be in the 40s tomorrow and hopefully by my birthday it will be in the high 50s for my birthday hike.
This year's Christmas Eve cocktail was a "French Martini" but in our lovely bear pilsners, not a martini glass.  Chambord, Vodka and pineapple juice. It was delightful with a great meal Bob brought from Asheville.
Spent the night watching Kevin Costner's 150 anniversary of Yellowstone, all four episodes.  Warm, cozy, and enjoyable. It was a very nice Christmas Eve!  Now all we can talk about is a trip to Yellowstone.

The Tree - Moody Blues

Another cedar from the pasture.  Needed more cool white lights not realizing that the white could be turned to blue and back and forth with twinkle lights.  So started the moody blue theme.

                               The cool white.

The first of the packages to be placed under the tree, it's now full.
Wrappings in a wood bark theme, love this bag with the geese, not your typical Christmas wrappings.
                                 Sans lights.
                              The glow at night.

                                    Feather balls
                                    Laser cut wood ornaments.
                                       Glitter balls.

A gift bag I really liked for my friends Rich & Pat in Nashville.
Afghans for Dawn & Nancy, the girls at our local post office who have become friends.
Two pretty white afghans sent to Denise in Memphis and Deb in PA, friends in rescue.
Family got food gifts from Harry & David and Wolfermans.  Baked my chocolate rolls today for Bob's boss and for us on Christmas Eve.  All done, time to relax except for making food and drinks for Christmas Eve and Christmas.  Going to be pretty darn cold!

ANNIVERSARY NO. 38

                          My cute anniversary card.

The usual anniversary lunch at Posteros. We decided to save Lodge on the Lake for my birthday and do the Exclamation Trail which is close by the lodge.  Bob ordered the Irish coffees ahead so they were ready when we got there.  Nice touch!

Whipped cheese dip like a mousse, light and yummy!
My usual Ceasar salad was not on the menu, so I got a spinach and baby endive salad with wine soaked pears and candied cashews. Delish!  Bob got his usual burger.
Only one Irish coffee this time, I wanted the chocolate pot de creme with salted caramel and pistachios. So good!
Then this movie at our local theatre.  Scenery to die for, movie was very strange and depressing.

Last Christmas 2021

Silver and pink. I was glad the tree was up, presents wrapped and mailed and some baked items done.  After my mom's passing I wasn't in the Christmas spirit.

I still have this bell from my first grade teacher. Each kid got one with their name painted on it.

Our Christmas Eve libation. Bob bought these pretty bear head glasses, which will be used again this year.
My favorite card was the one Bob gave me.
This is the artist.  Bob's office in Asheville is next to a great gift shop with amazing cards, so I get them on special occasions.  I will post the one I just got for our anniversary.
The usual baked yule logs that I give as gifts.  This was the only one I baked, I don't remember who I gave it to.
I do remember this lemon poundcake was for Mindy.

      Our one big snow storm.
We had only had Timber two months.  We found out he loves snow so much being a Chowamute that he couldn't resist plunging his head into a snowbank.
Hope we have a big one this year.  Never tire of this pretty scene.

The Holiday Mantles

This year's Thanksgiving mantle.

When looking through a cupboard, I found these hand painted bird cards that I had picked up years ago at one of the local estate sales.  I had forgotten all about them.

Last year's Christmas mantle.  Gold, silver and pink was the theme.

Brought out the vintage mercury glass.

This years Christmas mantle.  Moody blues with sparkle.
