Christmas Day

Some very nice gifts for Christmas.

Thank you mom for the beautiful espresso machine.  I never had one that did two cups at one time, will be a nice time saver!

From Bob, a mandolin to slice all those onions for French onion soup, and also because he saw this recipe and wants me to make it and I said "No way I'm hand cutting all those potatoes!"

Owl slippers I had my eye on last year.

Plaid sneakers this year

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Atlanta put out a cookbook!  Xmas dinner was made from these recipes.  Six hours straight in the kitchen UGH!

Easy recipes, but very labor intensive.  A lot of fine chopping for the Mexican rice.

Fresh squeezed and homemade everything for these luscious margaritas.

Ready for dinner!

Bob's requested meal consisted of Chicken Fried Steak with Tobasco Gravy, mashed potatoes and Mexican rice.  He also had one of my cheese enchiladas with lemon cream sauce.

My plate, cheese enchiladas with lemon cream sauce and Mexican rice, my usual order at the restaurant.  I can't believe they had opened a location in Willow Grove.  I went there when my mom had her heart attack, but after a year it was gone.

Just two days before Christmas I went to a thrift store in another town and I hit the jackpot.  It must have been because everyone was busy getting ready for Christmas, but this was like Christmas Day for me!  A bunch of beauties!

I have three friends with birthdays in January.  One is getting a book Bob found, the other a granny square afghan that she likes and this one is kind of a joke, the Property Brothers gnomes.  She thinks those guys are cute, and I don't, so I got them for her in garden ornament form. This will be fun!

Christmas Eve in Tryon

Bridge to boathouse.

Nina Simone dressed for the holidays.

Busy day, baked goods delivered, guests at boathouse settled, time for a fire, a movie and this year's Christmas Eve cocktail . . . the Irish Elf!

OH, YUM!

Christmas Scenes

Christmas store decorations in Asheville this year.

As requested, some daylight photos of my winter mantle.

My favorite card this year from Linda & Stu, looks just like the lake did last week!

Christmas at the lake.

Our canine guest this week named Abby from Virginia.

Abby enjoying the wood stove.  Saturday our guests are coming from Florida, they want a cold Christmas! Should have been here last week!  I guess 55 degrees will be cold enough for Floridians.  Also have a neighborhood Christmas party at 3.  Hope to bake on Sunday.
