Atlanta . . . No Wonder They Film Walking Dead Here!

Did all these people not hear what I heard?  Bob came home Monday night and I had his overnight bag ready, said you won't be coming home tomorrow night, get a room booked.  He won't be coming home tonight, either.  He couldn't get a room, but the Ritz gave him some pillows and a blanket and he slept on a couch in his office, had a nice dinner, breakfast with seven other attorneys that stayed and tonight will take in a Hawk's game instead of sitting in his car for 22 hours.  People, ever hear of being prepared and planning ahead?
Meanwhile, I'm at home with the pack and having a nice time taking walks, photos, cooking, catching up on transcripts!  These are my snow dogs!

Soup for the Soul

An earthy herb and mushroom broth with wild mushroom and greens ravioli.  Recipe: one leek, two stalks celery, two yellow onions chopped, one small carrot peeled and chopped, three sage leaves, five sprigs of thyme, eight sprigs parsley, one ounce dried porcini mushrooms.

Heat olive oil in skillet, cook onions until they caramelize and turn a rich brown.  Add leek, carrot, celery, herbs and mushrooms. Cook over medium heat until vegetables have softened.  Add enough water to cover vegetables by two inches.  Bring to boil, reduce and simmer 45 minutes. Strain broth and discard vegetables.

Add homemade ravioli and peas.  Enjoy the warmth on a cold winter's day.  May I suggest a movie to go along with the soup?    MOONRISE KINGDOM about a boy's camp in Rhode Island.  The director's next movie will be out in March, GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL.  Can't wait!!

Officially a Southern Girl!

We had 30 below windchill factor in our county, a record.  It brought back memories of being in PA, and made me glad that I did not get that job in NH when I was in my 20s not knowing that now in my 50s, I do not want the temp to go below the mid 40s or go above the mid 60s.  Poor Roman's tears froze on our walk!  Every time this happens, another million or so move to the South.
Even the bluebirds let me get close.  All they cared about was getting a mealworm.  I have two wrens that go in the basement every evening to sleep, and I have to let them out in the morning.  Now there's a smart bird!
Back to the mid 60s this weekend, right where me and the bluebirds like it!
