In Memory of Suzie Wong

Suzie Wong passed away September 23rd, 2014, at the age of 14 years and five months.  She will be missed.  She was the only dog we had that would "talk to the paw" and she loved having her dry food delivered.  It was quick and peaceful, but nonetheless sad.  Some of our favorite photos from throughout the years.

Then as fate would have it, an adoption I was setting up for two black chows in Florida going to Colorado fell through, and we made the decision to adopt the 12 year old and a good friend from Atlanta who now lives in Florida adopted the five year old.  He has a lot of health issues, we don't know how long we'll have him, but at least he will have a retirement home.  His name is Daddy Pops, named after an old diner my parents used to go to.  I always got a giggle out of that name, and a friend from high school just reminded me of the place this past week, and the name is so fitting for this old guy.

Shelter photo.  Was an owner surrender, came in matted and with a yeast infection, eye infection, heartworm, so had to be shaved.

He had a very long trip Friday with lots of nice transporters, and is now at home and fast asleep.

Fitting in nicely with the pack and taking a walk.

Sunday Drive to Grandfather Mountain

We went to Grandfather Mt. to see the migrating hawks and eagles, but when we got there we found out there were 70 mile an hour gusts at the top, so we wouldn't see any birds.  At least they wouldn't let any motorcycles up the mountain, made for a peaceful experience . . . well, except for the wind!

They warned us at the bottom to hold onto our car doors or else there would be none

The bridge between the two mountains is called the Singing Bridge and you can hear it in the video, listen closely.  It is a mile high and very scary to look down!

Some beautiful scenery on the way

An old church with gorgeous stained glass on the road to the mountain

Outside Tour

Fall is coming.  The pastures surrounding us are being hayed.
The light is changing, it's getting darker earlier.
The Rudbeckias are going to seed.

The pasture is full of goldenrod and is waiting to be cut.  Came down with a bad cold last week and have not accomplished anything this week, so I decided to take a tour of the outside by video just to be able to post something for my mom.  Hope you're not bored!
