Another Stone Cottage

One of my pastimes is looking at local real estate, maybe finding a smaller house, less land, a new project.  I found this place just three miles down the road and had to go see it.

Unfortunately, this small house sits on 80 acres of what once was the largest cotton farm in the area and will never be split apart.

I knew no one was now living in the house, there was a chain across the driveway, so we walked up from the road.  Yes, technically we were trespassing, and who would have thought one of the family members who lived in a town an hour away would show up late on a Sunday afternoon!

He was very nice, talked to us for quite sometime about the history of the place and even knew some people we knew in town, so all was good, although we did not get a tour of the inside.

A stone house is now my dream house, I think I've just painted for too many years, and this would be low maintenance.
Old stone well house.

This place does need a major overhaul as our house did, but it could be done to keep the character intact.

The views aren't too bad either!

Great chow house with all the slate floors outside, they would love being on the cool surface.

Do you see that pretty afghan?!

From what we could tell looking in the window, tile floor throughout.

This camellia was the only bush to speak of on the property, it was just lawn leaving a blank slate.

This patio is definitely not up to code.  A Wrought iron surround would be beautiful.

Oh well, on to the next one.  I will still be watching this one as it has been on the market for two years, you just never know what will happen!
