Thanksgiving Day - Blessing of the Hounds

Just by luck, through talking with someone on the lake, the Blessing of the Hounds was mentioned as something I should go to on Thanksgiving morning.

It has been a Tryon tradition for 93 years.  A priest blesses the hounds before a hunt (no fox was hunted in this event).

It was a beautiful morning, warm, the wind had stopped and the backdrop was a feast for the eyes.

The Lord's Prayer was echoed by the crowd, then the hounds were blessed and the riders were off.

I was expecting beagles, but these are larger hounds, much quieter and having a lot of fun!

A champagne toast.  Next year Mindy and I plan on bringing our own!

Between estate sales and functions like this one, we get to see streets we've never traveled down, and the views are amazing.

Bob  got a photo of me, which I never allow, but told him I would post it.

Tailgating afterwards.  I like the fox centerpiece on this one.

After the blessing, went to the boathouse to set up for our guests coming from Colorado Springs.  The wind made the water look like diamonds.

A new mink plush bedspread from the church sale.  The colors look great, but there was only one.  Back home to throw in a turkey and start working on the tree.
