Excited About the Possibilities

Pisgah Forest   All who know us are aware that we are a year behind in building our home at the lake because of the constant struggles with the banks on both sides and our endless struggle with Nature Conservancy about the gate that is now in place on the road leading to our property.  The Nels' home is on the market, our financial paperwork is in and now it's just a waiting game.  I have taken advantage of this down-time to maybe find a house just a bit closer to Asheville and to alleviate the hassle of building.  Mac our builder, like so many others, had to get out of the construction business due to the real estate crash.  Jem Hames, our GA builder is considering the possibility of going to NC and building our new home.
For months I have been looking for the perfect house that we hope would be our final house, and there has been nothing that would work until the Pisgah Forest house.  We are going to look at it this weekend.  We are not familiar with the area, but it is at the entrance to the Pisgah Forest, and Brevard is only three miles away.
This is Transylvania County, named the Land of Waterfalls because there are 250 waterfalls within a short distance of each other.  All of the REI hikes that I can't wait to participate in are in this area.  Next week there is a hike on private property to Tumbling Falls, and I wish I could go.  It is still hard to think of giving up the boathouse, but it will be easy to sell at a profit.  Dr. Rogers is still willing to buy our land, so we are thankful for that.  There are so many lakes in the area, we will have lots of places to go with the kayaks.
This house was built in the '70s by the founder of Mother Earth Magazine.  He moved with his wife from Ohio and lived here for quite some time.  It looks beautiful in the video, but not knowing what surrounds it and knowing if the space will work for us is something we will soon find out.  If this is not the house for us, then we will most likely start the building process.  Hopefully I can get excited about it when it begins because right now we're both tired from the constant hassle of trying to get out of here.   I will let you know what happens and take more photos of the house.  Keep your fingers crossed for us!
