May has been a very sad month. We lost both our chows within a week to cancer. The house was so empty. This is the first time in 40 years we have not had a dog, and we just had to go somewhere, anywhere to get a break from the grief.
We had been to Savannah decades ago, maybe a day just passing through and didn't remember a thing about it. With only a four hour drive, we thought it would be a great place for a long weekend, even if there was a heat wave passing through. I tend to go to the beach and other hot places in the winter, but the big vacation we have been planning in Canada just wasn't going to happen since we have to get our passports renewed.
We stayed down on the riverfront, and it was the perfect place to be. Easy to walk all the different historic areas and along the river with lots of restaurants and lots of action.
We had a really nice dinner outside on the river, a great Mexican restaurant with really good frozen margaritas.
We did a lot of walking despite the 104 temperature. There was a breeze though!
This was inside the Starbucks.
Bob needs a haircut lol.
Beautiful buildings everywhere.
And Spanish moss in the live oaks everywhere. I LOVE the Spanish moss!
