Sullivan's Island, Day 1

The trip to OBX with my brother had to be postponed, so I took to my original plan to go to Sullivan's Island outside Charleston to see my friend Fabrizia who recently moved from CT to Swansea, SC.

We met for lunch and talked for hours.

The bridge to get to the island was long and very high!
I stayed at Shem Creek Hotel on the marshes and about 10 minutes outside Sullivan's Island where there are no hotels or Airbnbs, and I saw signs "no timeshares" keeping the island as private homes.  Can't blame them.
Sunday night was hoping with lots of bars and restaurants along the marshes.
Took an evening stroll to breathe in the salt air and watch the sun set.

      Lots of shrimp boats.

A blue heron enjoying the music.
Getting up early to walk the boardwalk through the marshes hoping to get some photos of birds.

Flowering Bridge & Rainbow Bridge

Marina Bridge leads to the Flowering Bridge which ends at the Rainbow Bridge

       See the fisherman?

Stones painted as books along the way

A lovely, but hot, day.  Hours of walking, the knee is feeling it. Off to the orthopedist on Wednesday. Wish me luck!

Autumn Touches

Inside, added some fall colors through crochet doilies and afghans.

Changed out some lighting by bringing out the "ugly" holiday lamps that I like because I use flicker bulbs giving a warm glow, but found this gorgeous heavy woven rattan/wicker shade and would have given anything for a pair.  Makes my ugly light look so much better!

Outside, the white beauty berries are so pretty this year. The birds love them, and I found a volunteer that will be transplanted down at the farmhouse.

                                                   Wine colored zinnias
Pale blue ageratum

                                                          Violet Obedient Plant

Tithonias and Timber in the pasture
Looking out the kitchen window, maybe once spring planting is finished I will get to sit in this chair and take in the view!
