2011 Spring Garden

Okay, I know I told everyone I wasn't going to plant a garden here because of going back and forth to NC and starting a garden there, but I couldn't help myself

Spent a whole day planting corn, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, basil and watermelons, could barely walk the next day, was a good first workout of the season
Worked so hard even Panda couldn't take it
or Geisha. Who knows where the Wong was!
Then the floods came just days later, and Geisha was pretty bummed out
our dry stream turned into a roaring river . . .
and our pasture turned into a lake. Maybe I should have gone with my first instinct not to do a garden here this year. Live and learn!

Howie Has a Home!

Thanks to Linda & Danielle for helping us find Howie a home. Now living with Dan and Duke, Howie has been renamed to Buster. A happy ending for the luckiest pitty in the world!
As Debra said, it was nothing short of a miracle at this time to find a home for a pit bull.
Thanks also to the 350 rescue groups cross-posting and putting him on Petfinder. Two weeks of hard work, but what a happy ending!

70 Degrees and other Signs of Spring!

Birds staking out their homes . . .
Hundreds of Sandhill Cranes migrating north . . .
Groups of cranes came through all day long . . .
the most I've ever seen.
These were flying a little low, but got a close-up shot!
And the hyacinth bloomed today!
