Kacey goes to Orlando!

Flight Video by Amy Parish
Kacey, a Kai mix, after months of being in our rescue and going to Frogs to Paws for training is now on his way to his adopters in Orlando, Florida!
Mike is flying with Dr. Muller in his plane to Pensacola, a little hurricane named Sandy is stopping them from flying to Orlando, but in Pensacola they will pick up a new boy for the rescue, Zeus, a terrier for another rescue group, and a pitty puppy.  Have a safe trip, guys!!

Treasures at the Recycling Center!

At the recycling center I spied a lady ready to toss a huge piece of spatterware into the metal bin. Next thing you know, Bob was putting it in the back of my car.  Smelled like something had died in it, covered with muck from her barn.
A good cleaning and it looks great, very little rust and no holes.
The gray is hard to come by, and just look at those spatters!  This is a huge piece, about two feet across.  Finally, a reward for recycling for soooo many years!!

Bear Alert at Lake on Second Basin!!

(Click on Photo to Enlarge) Rusty and Rita were out for an evening ride on a pontoon boat touring the lake when Rusty said to Rita "Do you see what I see"?  Yes, there was a big black bear taking a swim in the lake.  Luckily, Rita had her camera with her, but didn't get it out in time to get a photo of the bear in the water.
She followed the bear up the dock and went around the next boathouse's garage to let the people there know a bear was there and when she turned the corner the bear was 10 feet in front of her .  She said "What a shock, but how exciting!"  The bear was on Dr. Muller's dock.  Maybe he heard Dr. Muller does free dental work for bears??
Rita thought the bear to be old, he was black with a brown face and weighing about 300 to 400 pounds, at least by the size of his footprint.  Guess he wanted to take a bath before his long winter's nap!!

Rescue Pet Photography Webinar

Just finished a photography webinar given by Austin photographer Teresa Berg, www.teresaberg.com/blog.  It was wonderful and gave lots of tips for photographing our rescues, which I am going to start putting into practice tomorrow in the fenced area behind BAC.  Let's see if this really works!!
Her book is "Dog Shots" and her Facebook page is Shelter Chic.  There is also more information on photography at www.focusonrescue.com and www.heartsspeak.org where professional photographers will mentor non-professionals like myself to help with shelter pet photography if one happens to be in your area.  I am going to check that out and see if I can do that.  Anyone in the group that wants to do the same or help me with the dogs when photographing will be greatly appreciated!!
